Laserbolt looked around, a look of confusion on his face. He picked up the glass of water, and threw it on his back. "I'm surprised nopony asked about the fire. Did I go through some sort of temporal shift again?"

The Wanderer grinned. "This is an inn between worlds, traveler. And you speak with a Wandering Magus and a half-fay of the Enchanted Woods. Stranger things have occurred."
"Indeed!" laughed Alfonso, leaping lightly off the flower upon which he stood and peering down at the pony, green thumbs on his chin in thought. "'Twas a long while since I visited the lands of talking ponies, long even as fay count time. So long that our kind has become but tales for children, so I hear."

"Magus? So this is... HOLY BAZEEJUS!" Laserbolt dashed up to the Magus. "You're the one who- oh, this is awesome! How do you come up with all your ideas?"

The Wanderer smiled, sipping her ale. "I am a Wandering Magus, Laserbolt. I have been to many places, seen many things, and taken part in them. I have read many, many tomes, and found inspiration in many ancient stories now long-forgotten by the common man. It is an unfortunate and regrettable fact that all too many no longer appreciate the old ways, turning instead to mindless activities and eschewing both the reading of literature and the writing of it in pursuit of instant gratification."
Alfonso grinned. "They who forget history are cursed to repeat it, as Grandmother says. And oh what fools these mortals be at times! Centuries pass, and still the same mistakes, the same vices, the same weaknesses, only grown with the times. The increase of their machines and tools of cold iron only brought their culture ever lower, ever farther from their roots, from the Earth which brought them forth, from the morals that once allowed even the richest man to leave his doors unlocked at night, fearless of robbers or murderers. Yet now, where is decency? Where is hospitality? Gone, it is, gone from hearth and home, from field and croft."

Yellow Light's face was still a bit blank from witnessing a pony casually trot in on fire and ask for some water. ...That and she was still trying to process the tale Alfonso had been starting. She seemed to conclude her thoughts on both topics simultaneously, getting a blend of an almost sad face at the thought of a being having all the power it could want but not being loved, and also getting a look of concern for the newly-arrived pony... who had just said something odd that she didn't quite hear through her brainstorming. "You... you were just on fire...," she stuttered, pointing uncertainly at Laserbolt. She didn't have the slightest clue what to say at this point.

"Oh, good, someone noticed that." Laserbolt nodded to Yellow Light, then turned to. "So, what time are you talking about? Everything seems to be fine here."

The Wanderer smiled softly. "The world beyond the world, the world of Shadows-Who-Write, the Shadows-Who-Play, the Shadows-Who-Make. But you know of them, or you would not have recognized me, hmm?"
Alfonso chuckled. "'Tis rare, it is, to meet one who knows the ways of the World. And rightly so, for were it not, who knows what stories great would be lost? Yet those who have it must careful be, yea, even the one called Deadpool, and Pinkamena Diane Pie, who walks between the Worlds. Else no worlds would there be, and the Story would end in chaos and confusion, then fading to naught as the Shadows depart, never to return save on a blue moon."

"I..." Laserbolt frowned slightly. "You're going to erase my memory about this, aren't you? I mean, I'm not supposed to know, right?"

Yellow light looked back and forth between the other members of the party, still a bit confused, but suddenly paused as though she remembered something important. She pulled a PDA out of her flight suit and looked at it. "Mercy me, I may have neglected something of importance. I'd best return to it," she said nervously. She gave the Wanderer and Alfonso a polite parting bow. "Long life to you, Wanderer, Alfonso," she said as her gaze passed over them both respectively. She looked at Laserbolt. "I'd say the same to you, but I'm afraid what you need isn't luck... it's a portable fire extinguisher. I hope you can procure one soon," she said genuinely.
Yellow grabbed her just-finished green tea from the bar, poured it into a bottle she pulled from one of her satchels so as to not run off with the barista's glassware, and left her payment beside the empty mug. "Thank you for your hospitality!" she told the barista. She would have stayed for a longer and more proper goodbye, but she was needed elsewhere... if she didn't get back to her own tale, she'd never become the pilot she was now.
A minute after Yellow Light stepped out the tavern's doors, the party within could hear her D-77 TC's engines winding up once more, and thirty seconds after that the sound faded into the distance.

"I didn't see any vehicles outside. In fact, come to think of it, I was just in Everfree, but it looks like Canterlot out there." Laserbolt said, glancing outside and scratching his chin. "Maybe some tests are in order, if you don't mind, barkeep."

The Wanderer waved to Yellow Light, then turned to Laserbolt and chuckled. "Nothing so crude. You may notice that Miss Pie still maintains her knowledge, and in any case I would not force upon you anything that your Shadow-Who-Types would not desire. And though you make references to the Worlds, you never truly use your knowledge and abilities thus gained to disrupt the flow of the Story in any extreme way."
"And 'tis fine to have another who knows the ways of the Worlds!" grinned Alfonso.
He hopped back onto a stool, leaning against the counter. "Art thou surprised that the world outside be not what ye recalls? For one so knowing o' th' ways o' th' Worlds, 'tis surprising to see thee shocked so."

Laserbolt shrugged. "I'm less surprised as I am intrigued. It hasn't been documented where I come from, so maybe I could get a publication of some sort." He sat in a chair, and looked around. "I wonder if they serve Griffon Cuisine here."

The barista came by with the Wanderer's fish and chips, right on time, and the Magus smiled as she gave the human-like individual a gold coin before turning back to Laserbolt.
"I would not put it past them. After all, this is an Inn Between Worlds, and caters to many different tastes."
A green-skinned human-like creature with twin tails sprouting from the back of her head turned and blinked at them before going back to her meal of... indescribable materials, which didn't look edible in the slightest to mammals, at least.

"Wait, humans come here? Fascinating!" Laserbolt stood up from his chair, and walked over to the Magus. "Hey, you don't mind if I sit with you two, do you?

The Wanderer smiled and gestured that it was all right, then looked to the half-fay.
Alfonso grinned, leaning back against the counter as he twiddled his green thumbs. He brushed some of his brown hair from his brown-green eyes, looking for all the world like a mischievous human youth, save for his green thumbs and slightly pointed ears, and knowing smile far older than his appearance said.
"By all means, milord," he bowed. "So, knowest thou indeed of humans? Of course thou dost, elsewise 'twould be contrasting with thine familiarity with the ways of the Worlds! But how much thou knowest, that be the question, methinks."
