The young master of Élire knew better than to trail after an angered mare, stepping aside for her and ignoring her for now.
Afterwards, he went over to see who it was that was with Frost. Hooded and silent, he caught the masked stallion and asked, "Excuse me. I saw you with Frost. She seems pretty mad about losing those books." His demeanor sounded as if though he was gloating over his victory, but then his face changed to a more friendly guise. "She did not lose them, you know. You see that mare over there? She is known for swooping in last-minute and taking items.
By the way... I was not buying those books for a collection. Your friend may not show body language, but eyes never conceal motive. The books are Frost's."

Aldorn glances at the stallion, then looks towards the auction. "That was a very unwise move you have made. You made more of an enemy towards Frost than a friend with that first impression, even if you are going to give them to her. I wouldn't be surprised if this is how sheltered nobles think and act." He glances in another direction. "You should have helped us out instead of interfering and then announcing that you are helping us. It makes a bad first impression towards new allies or friends."

Starfall smiled at him "However unwise it may have been, it meant I used my money instead of you both using every bit you had trying to get those books... Besides, I do not entirely know why she would want the books, and me buying them and subsequentially giving them to her gives me the chance to meet her and learn about the books myself as well as why she wanted them.
Oh... By the way, a sheltered noble would have bought the books for their own collection and bid twice as much as I did just to spite you. Trust me. I may not seem like it, but I am on your side."

There were no more bids after Asterian, although Lady Last Penny gave him the equivalent of a "polite" noble's glare on her way out. One lone minotaur that Octavia had missed earlier on first glance actually stood up, held up his hands, and left with an "That's it, I'm out".
The books didn't seem to have much interesting information to his knowledge, but as he knew quite well, appearances can be deceiving, and simply the fact that they were an ancient collection and written specifically concerning the history of Equestria was enough to value them quite a bit higher than others down here might have realized. In fact, if he were a betting stallion, he'd probably have bet the entire Eliere fortune on it holding at least one clue for driving back the Ice.
For the moment, however, he had a large stack of books on hoof, and a marefriend waiting back on a roof somewhere, unless she had decided to follow him and managed to make the trip.
A thump and a sigh nearby confirmed his thoughts exactly as Octavia trotted towards him, brushing off some dust.
"Did you find something interesting, love?"
Ah, the many luxuries of Orod Khazad. For those with a decent amount of bits on hoof, it had just about every service money could buy. Massages, hoof care, mane styling, coat brushing, mud baths and mineral baths, and, of course, many other sorts of pleasures as well. If ever there was a place to relax and take her mind off of the past few days, this was the place for Frost.
Quite a while later, she was very much refreshed, and her mood had improved considerably. It was certainly an... experience she would think back on fondly later.

Frost's look has considerably changed as well. She heads back to the auction house after getting herself pampered. when Aldorn, Asterian and Octavia see her again she seams to be in a much better mood and she also looks allot nicer in appearance then before. Her mane and style is that of an old kingdom that lays far to the north with minor gem fragments in her mane and tail. She coat is glossy and shimmering. If one could guess she wasn't ever a cold child by the way she looks now.
She goes right up to Asterian and says, "Now I think we got off on the wrong hoof. I never even got your name. Yet you know of mine. shall we try to correct this. I believe your mare friend there would know when a lady is having certain issues, for a lack of a better word for it."
Frost waits for Asterian's response. She stance is one that many haven't seen in almost 500 years from the banishment of nightmare moon.
((The town of Talos was sealed off from the world for a while when nightmare moon appeared as a fragment release not the final release that got her sealed. when nightmare moon was freed Talos eventually returned.))

Asterian paid his bid with a bank note, as well as returning the glance with true politeness, receiving the books just as Octavia moved up. "I did, actually. These old history books. Cost me a small fortune, but something tells me they could be worth something. There was a mare that was bidding on them, and... well, she was bidding quite extensively on them.
What happened to you, though?" He then noticed Frost and turned around. "Asterian Élire, heir to the... Oh, what's the use?" he snickered. "I can see how what I did could seem insulting, but I was buying those books for you." He levitated the books towards Frost with a smile. "My good deed for the day, I suppose. I just did not want to see you and your friend spending every bit you had on something I could buy for you." He then blushed lightly at the mention of "mare issues", but kept himself in line.
Asterian's accounts: 497,825 bits

Aldorn looks at Frost and blushes underneath the mask. He shakes his head a bit and stands next to Asterian. He glances at him, noticing the light blush. He returns his look at Frost. "We now have required items of which holds the answers we seek. Hopefully, they will provide the clue. If not, we will look in the library and search there, though I wish it were not the case. Takes too much time to look in a place of books than to look for the answer within these books."
He looks at Asterian. "We thank you, Lord Asterian, for helping us get the books of history. Any future services will be greatly appreciated, though I wish not to bother you or your lady any further." The sooner we're done here, the faster we leave this sheltered life-style of theirs.

Frost nods and says, "Well, for now, we should at least enjoy life's little pleasures. As to your question earlier. I was after something that may be in these books. what do you know of history Lord Asterian, Lady Octavia? More importantly, what do you know of the myth of Windigoes? If the questions confuse you a bit, perhaps a more private location for our chat would be needed. It is a rather long story. One Fluttershy herself wrote of."

The stallion laughed merrily at the sound of his title being used. "Please, there is no need to address me as such. Just 'Asterian' will do. You are welcome, Sir... Forgive me, I do not know your name. Nonetheless, I am curious about why these books are so intriguing to you both."
Asterian then, upon hearing of the topic of the Blizzard looked at Frost with a somewhat grim expression. "I sought all the knowledge I could of the matter as soon as I could get my hooves upon it. This is why you were after these books, wasn't it?"

"We seek the clues of which Fluttershy wrote in the notes. The history will tell us of these clues and how we must go about doing it. We are the few that are actually willingly enough trying to stop this Ice Age from being a permanent residence in this world. And these books will help show the way to which we now follow." Aldorn takes off his mask for a brief moment to show the two his face, then puts it back on. "As for my name, I am Aldorn Ceraphil. Master Blacksmith of Blacksmith's Way and follower of the Goddess of Earth, Gaia."

Forst says, "I am Frost Nova of the lost town of Talos. there is a tale surrounding my home but that is for another time. We need a place that is more private and I can explain in more detail. But this much I can say. three years ago my home Talos was hit with a particularly bad ice storm. my parents were killed in it and I was left with the frost touch. but it was this that gained me my cutie mark A flying Pegasus in a ice blizzard. But that is not the important part. For three years I have been searching for something. No trace of my parents was found the next day only me. The towns folk blamed me for being foalish and going to help them. They said I was the cause of my parents end. In the storm I saw something right out of a nightmare. A creature that looked vaguely equine and was so attuned to the cold that they themselves created it as it had seamed. For three years I searched for what they were. finally with this, I gained their name. They are called by the ancient tale of hearts warming eve, Windigoes. I saw many of them that night but never till now knew what they were. I believe the tale itself may hold one of the biggest clues of all."
Frost Waited till they were in a more private place before holding up the note, in its envelope, from fluttershy's cottage. She then says, "This was what the message inside said:
From Oak to Holly, from Holly to Oak, The tale we hide, The meaning cloak. From Smooze of old, to great Tirek, They ever come, the world to wreck. A thousand years, ten thousand more, The land was safe from shore to shore, For Princesses and Elements, Did grace us with benevolence. But now the ancient curse is come, Our bones to chill, our skin to numb. To solve this ancient mystery, Look back into your history. No longer is it endless hate, Nor arrogance, nor anger great, But snow and ice are just the same. Return to that from whence you came."
frost waits for the message to sink in.

"'Return to that from whence you came'... Sounds like bonding in fellowship like before to me." Asterian pondered the riddle.
"'Ancient curse is come; our bones to chill, our skin to numb'. That could mean the Windigoes. 'Solve this ancient mystery, look back into your history'... Doing that... 'No longer is it endless hate, nor arrogance, nor anger great'. Referring to the three races' hatred towards each other in those times so long ago. It means that can't be the cause. 'Snow and ice are just the same. Return to that from whence you came'. Return to friendly times and happiness. I know this city thrives, but what of other places?"

Aldorn looks at Asterian. "While this city thrives, others suffer. They try so hard to stay alive, living in underground settlements that can barely keep the cold out or barely provide food. Only a few cities like this contains happiness, warmth, and enjoyment of life, ignoring the fact that others are suffering in the cold. I know this because I visited most of those settlements on my way here. Some are barely surviving while others are thriving. There are those that will even kill other ponies to survive in this unbearable wasteland of ice. Disorder and chaos lies beyond those city gates. To return this happiness, we must restore the surface. Turn it back to when it once was. That is our goal, as well as find and retrieve the Gods and Goddesses that disappeared from these lands."

Frost says, "There is also another thing we might take into account. Return from wince you came. This part stuck me as odd. I though it meant return to the place the curse started. Namely back to the origin point of the tale of heart's warming eve. The land that was the origin point given by the tale. The place where the three pony races first started to fight. But we need more info in order to make sure. that is why the history books are so important. I am also planning to ask the lord/lady duchy if we can look at the history books from his/her library."

Octavia finally broke her silence.
"Duke Fancy Pants? His library is open for all to enter and read; he calls it a 'civil service' to the denizens of Orod Khazad. But what do you suppose you might find in these books that you can't find in the Library?"
