It was a beautiful day in Ponyville. Celestia's Sun was shining cheerfully, birds were singing, and no storm was scheduled until next week. And best of all - it was the start of summer break!
Ponyville had a tradition dating waaaay back into the time of the Three Tribes, when most Earth Ponies were still farmers; during the winter, when there was nothing to do but wait inside while the snow fell, ponies traditionally taught their foals all about the turning of the seasons and all the lore of the land, and when the winter snow and spring rains were finished, the foals went out and helped their parents tend to and gather the year's harvest in time for the Running of the Leaves. Of course, only very traditional families like the Apples still did actual farm work now, but Ponyville kept the tradition of having school the late and early months, and having a nice big break during summer! And that was starting today!
What to do, what to do? There were so many things! Swimming in the lake, running around town, building something amazing, everything was possible at this age. That being said...
You were still a blank flank. And no, Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon would NOT stop going on about it. The CMC were off on some sort of adventure in a faraway city or something, and last time you went to visit Princess Twilight for Friendship advice, the line was THIS long! Like, wider than you could even stretch your hooves! Like, it'll-totally-take-FOREVER-to-reach-the-front long!
So, yeah. But still! Summer... what might summer bring?
