Equestria 2500: Dawn of Chaos (OOC)

firstly, I recommend reading as much as you can of everything that would be relevant to you in the threads. That includes descriptions of each faction, the other players involved and their backstories, the opening post I made, and any recent posts, preferably within a few pages, or the entire thread if you have the time. Also be sure to ask each one of us if you wish to interact. You know where to find us.

Put yourself in your character's situation. What does he feel? What does he see? What does he hear? Smell? Taste? Think? What memories are playing in his mind? Where is he? What is he doing? How is he acting? What is the general atmosphere? All of these are important aspects of a post. I can't help you if you don't know who you are, and what you are doing, and why you are doing it, and where, and when.

An example:

Bad and unhelpful post: "Feather waited, looking at the information. Maybe he could help out or meet someone."

This post doesn't give other players any information on where he is or how to contact him, what he is doing exactly, or what context he is in. It doesn't even say what information he is looking at, and he takes no initiative to go out and make some sort of action that would affect other players. Roleplaying is all about interaction and taking the initiative. I can't always be the one keeping the ball rolling.

Good post: "Dr. Feather Scroll was sitting in his office in the newly-built Noah University, a branch of the ancient Royal Academy of Magic located in the sky-city of Ark 1 orbiting high above Novus in the Ursa System. He took a sip of organic coffee, savoring the slightly bitter and acrid taste as he glanced over the information projected in the hologram before him. He was looking at the profile of the mysterious leader of the Harmonia faction, Herdfather Teal. Apparently, he was once part of Homeworld, until the pollution and ecological problems drove him to leave Sol entirely and set out on his own with a small band of followers. Perhaps, Feather mused, he could meet with this Herdfather, one way or another. He brought up the scheduling application, and the artificial-intelligence program, SEBASTIAN, appeared and bowed. 'You called, sir?' 'Yes. Set an appointment with Mr. Brown for 13:00 tomorrow. I think I will be going to Bitopia for a proposal.' 'As you wish, sir. Shall I ready the ship?' 'Yes please. And get dinner ready, I think I shall be studying quite a bit more the rest of today.' With that, he stood up, adjusted his suit, and turned to the communication application, smiling as he brought up the contact information for the local military leader, Sheriff Buckeye. 'Time to call the Sheriff.' The communication channel began ringing."

This gives ample information on who your character is, what he is doing, where he is doing it, and why he does what he does. It immediately affects another player, in this case Sheriff Buckeye, and makes preparations for future events, in this case a trip to Bitopia in order to discuss somehow meeting with Herdfather Teal.

so I was just curious is this rp still going or am I just uncovering a relic so to say

this and several other threads are due for a makeover or a restart. however, it seems a majority of members seem to greatly prefer Skype threads to forum threads :\ please feel free to add wanderingmagus on skype, and I'll add you to the forum skype chat if you'd like. hopefully we can get this ball rolling again soon.
