Frost nods, "I may have to leave my home for a place more cold then The land will become. But if at all possible I would like for them to allow me to be able to use my powers and still live in the warm lands. I miss my youth and wish for it to come back. I know though that my life was changed forever when that storm hit my home. and I will never be the same as I once was." frost continues hoping to soon see the ones she promised to help or any remains of them.

Aldorn glances at Frost, then returns back to looking for the survivors. "All of us will never be the same. I used to be a quiet and lonely blacksmith that lives inside of a volcano. Now I'm a lone wanderer armed with a heat assault rifle and my sword with an empty soul core. Many of us wishes the life we held back then, but there are others that are glad the Ice came, and those are the ones we must be careful of. As for you, I hope you stay with us when all of this ends. You have a rare talent that a few only posses. You are also kind and helpful to others, you willing to help those foals is a great example. If we return this land back to normal, I will do what I can to help you stay here. You have my word."

The two soldiers kept silent, allowing Frost to respond. Meanwhile, the ice pony could feel the residual heat seeming to increase, meaning they were getting nearer to the ponies... if they were still alive. ***** Octavia smiled, closed her eyes, and began to pluck the strings quietly in a song that built from quiet to lively and cheerful:

Asterian gladly followed along, playing in sync with the mare and keeping pace. He made sure to follow all the way to the crescendo, not one to disappoint anypony.
Once they had finished their music, he replaced his instrument a second time. He then turned to face Octavia to ask her what he came here to ask her about. "Octavia, dear, can I talk to you in private for a moment?" he asked. So many different things ran through his head as he awaited her answer. What would he say? What would she say? What would happen if his thoughts about her were wrong?

Frost nods in agreement, "Yea and I will do my best to help you with your side of things as well." As the heat begins to increase she begins to pick up the pace. "We are getting closer to them. This way, the heat trails are getting more pronounced." She begins to go at a brisk trot pace hoping the adults are still alive. Hoping the others can keep up with her cold adapted ground speed.

Aldorn picks up the pace to catch up to Frost. "Then we are in agreement. And we will keep it until this is done, or something worse happens to us."

The mare turned to him, with her face as calm as only a mare like Octavia could have, but her eyes widened just enough that he knew she had been waiting for this moment. She nodded gracefully, and told the others she would be right back before turning and beckoning for Asterian to follow her to the back room. Once they got there, she closed the door, took a deep breath, and looked at him expectantly.
"Yes, Asterian?"
*****
It seemed they were almost there...
"No..." whispered the Lieutenant as they surveyed the avalanche-rock slide that now blocked their path.
Her partner hardened his beak. "They might still be alive."
He walked over without hesitation and began to dig at the stone and ice. "Come on, help me get this out of the way."
There might be another way though. It seemed that, behind the pile of debris, there's the faint traces of wood and ancient thatching.

Asterian could read the mare's expression. He knew that she now knew the reason for his coming, yet he decided to remain formal about the matter. "Octavia, you and I have been friends for quite some time now. We know each other, trusted each other to keep secrets, and supported each other in times of need... Octavia, I've been... Forgive my bluntness, but I want to be more than friends. I want us to be together." The cards dealt, Asterian could only wait and see what the final outcome would be. Whether he and Octavia would remain just friends or they never see one another again was a risk he knew he had to take, but he knew it was one worth taking.

frost looks to the guard and says, "Why waist time digging? there is ice and snow mixed into this. it may tire me but i think I can move it."
Frost looks to be in total concentration as she manipulates the ice and snow within the rockslide to cause it to flow to either side of the opening. It took a few minutes and most of her main reserves but she clears the path and makes on opening for them to use.
Frost slumps in the snow and looks to be sleeping, but one can tell she is very much awake but fatigued. with a tired breath she says to the others, "Go on ahead. I need to rest here. I haven't had the chance to practice this besides my shield. So it is very tiring for me. It is one of the many benefits of being a child of the cold. By resting in the cold, I can regain my strength quickly. I will be along once I am able."
Frost continues to rest in the cold taking in as much as she can hold to restore her lost energy. Every so often she reach out, grabs some snow and eats it just to speed up the process.

Aldorn looks at Frost. "Are you sure of this? Though a child of the cold you are, being alone is quite dangerous, especially at the state you are in. There is a chance you may encounter an unfriendly wanderer out here, a bandit or raider. They are out there, a few I encountered. I could stay here with you?"

Frost tiredly raises her head and says, "I am the color of the snow. It would be hard for them to see me let alone attack me. This storm also has increased the effectiveness of the cold. I should on my feet soon. I just need a few more minutes. If you wish to stay till then, that is fine by me. I can't tell you what to do, only make suggestions. Besides, aren't those adult ponies more important to the little ones then me?"

Aldorn shakes his head. "You are just as important to the little ones as well as the adults. For you have found them a new home, something they have sought out. But if you wish, I will leave and search until you get back." Aldorn heads past the uncovered path.

Frost wiggles herself deeper into the snow allowing the cold to encompass her and the snow to cover her. she stays this way for a few minutes more before coming back up her color and liveliness back at full strength. Without a word just a breath of frost from her, as she exhales, Frost heads inside to find the others.

Octavia looked deep into Asterian's eyes for a while, and the air fair sparked with tension as the words caught in her throat. Other ponies might not notice such subtleties with the usually dignified mare, but the stallion had been around her long enough to catch on to a few physical cues. She was breathing more rapidly than usual, for one, and there was an almost imperceptible blush creeping into her cheeks as she responded.
"I... w-would... l-love to... yes!" she stammered, finally blushing furiously as she managed to get the words out of her butterfly-filled chest and into the air.
*****
The two soldiers from Duchy Fancy hesitated, then saluted to Frost, respecting her decision as they made their way through the new opening.
Both they and Aldorn found themselves inside an ancient cottage, remarkably well-preserved due to the subzero temperatures literally "freezing" time inside this once-home. The two guards, in particular, looked around in awe. They instantly recognized it as the home of one of the mythical Bearers of Harmony, in particular that of Saint Fluttershy the Kind. It was like entering a holy place to them, with every piece of furniture, even the quaint frozen bird-houses and frozen wallpaper as holy as relics.
Unfortunately, awe quickly gave way to fury, as it became evident they were not the only ones here. Huddled on the far side of the place were the adults. There had apparently been quite a fight, and many of them had long since succumbed to wounds and the cold. That was not the worst of it. In desperation, some of the survivors, or ex-survivors now, had apparently tried resorting to cannibalism before being put down by their fellow ponies. The bloodstains covered much of the old wood boards, some of which had been torn up in a futile attempt to make some sort of fire. Of course, their soaked and frozen condition didn't allow for much in the way of heat, and the small herd had given up and resigned themselves to a cold and slow death, trapped by the avalanche. Some ponies looked up at their presence, most of those in shame, but the rest didn't even lift their heads, staring at the floorboards as if in utter despair and hopelessness.

It was a few minutes before Frost came inside and the first thing she did was use the frozen place like a beacon of power to activate her Ice Dome Shield. The cold could soon give way to a not to uncomfortable amount of heat as the shield took hold. It did however clean allot the stuff as the pulse crept from Frost, who seams to have a high respect for this place. She then looked to the adults and said, "You would have been safer with the younglings. But this....it goes against everything She, the one who held this place as home, stood for. Before we return to the children, who are well taken care of right now, what do you adults have to say for yourselves? Once you have eaten and gotten some strength back, you will help to fully straiten this place up. I know it may be hard on you but you must understand who this place once belonged to. Now gentle colts, please give them a helping hoof. They will need their strength for the trek back to the younglings and to their new home."
