Tech looked at his grandson very seriously. "The Dawn of Chaos? You are sure?"
He looked into the other stallion's eyes for a long moment before he began pacing. "The Dawn of Chaos. I had hoped that would never come. The Intervention Faction must be getting impatient, or desperate, if they've decided to resort to this."
He stopped and turned to Cosmic. "How much have I told you about the Star Children and the Intervention Faction? I'm getting too old for this sort of field work. I know I've always been... close about some things, Cosmic. And I'm sorry it had to be that way. But if ever there was a time when the full truth, or at least a vital part of it, needed to be told, it's now. Remind me. What do you know about Technopathy?"

The Princesses nodded, and Princess Twilight Sparkle spoke, as precisely and diplomatically as always.
"We would be honored to receive a delegation from Harmonia, Herdfather. You may board when ready."
The Lightreader spoke in Teal's mind through the ship's neural communication systems.
"Confirming that permission has been received, Herdfather."
"Planeshifter is ready for use, Herdfather," relayed the Shipkeeper. "Mana flow and breathing is normal. She seems happy today," he noted, referring to the ship. "For some reason she's not recoiling from the Homeworld ship. It doesn't... 'smell' like death, Herdfather."

" For some reason she's not recoiling from the Homeworld ship. It doesn't... 'smell' like death, Herdfather." Teal gives the shipkeeper a rather curious look, wondering just what form of technology Homeworld is using. Surely they haven't invented a technology that's as ecologically safe as Harmonia's, have they? Very good, I'll be departing in just a moment. he replies in the Lightreader's mind. Leaving his seat, Teal finishes off his beverage and reattaches the flower to it's stem, allowing it to bloom as before. I'll be leaving Elder Ember Shard in charge, he indicates to a normally timid, though brilliant unicorn elder. Be sure to keep everyone in line while I'm away. he says. Taking three steps forwards, Teal stands still to allow the planeshifter to bring him aboard the Homeworld ship. I leave the mothership and her children in your care, may the spirits of life safeguard you! he bids farewell to his crew with a hoof to his heart.

Cosmic nods and says, " Technopathy is the ability to mentally control technology of many types. The more one knows about technology itself the more of it one can control. I know that you are the strongest I have known in that ability. As for the star children I know that they are watchers. They hold very rare abilities. Of all I know and remember there was at least 4 of them. creation, existence, destruction and Unity. But for some reason, every so often, when I dream I see what is a phoenix wrapped in flames surrounded by an egg. and when I saw this symbol, I knew what that symbol meant. It was rebirth. My phoenix team was named after the legendary phoenix and its power of rebirthing itself from its own ashes. As for this intervention faction I have not even an idea of who they are. Is there a reason I should? Also grandfather Does this have anything to do with how mother was killed?" Most of Cosmic's confusion is gone now but some still remains. Cosmic thinks to himself, " I wonder why grandpa has asked me these things? is there a reason I should know about this 'Dawn of Chaos'? what role am I to play in this? why does this go back to THAT event? Why back to mother's end?" Cosmic's facial features constantly change as he asks himself the questions. when thinking about his mother's death he features are of love for his mother, anger for the one who ended her life, loss for his mother's death, fear that it may happen again and hate also for those that took his mother from him. He looks to his grandfather and says, " What must I do? what must I learn to keep the same thing that happened to mother from happening again. I feel this 'dawn of chaos' thing is something very bad and it needs to be stopped."

The reply to the Sheriff was almost immediate as the audio came to life. "Defense Fleet, this is Ranger Station 53, we copy, Defense Fleet. Clearance code transmission has been confirmed. Welcome home, Sheriff. Docking Bay 30 is open as usual. Permission to dock granted, over."
*****
Everyone aboard the Harmonian ship saluted as the planeshifter enveloped the Herdfather. There was a sensation of falling inwards, then outwards...
Teal was released from the protective embrace of the plant like structure as spacetime reconstituted itself, revealing the bridge of the Homeworld diplomatic starship. Despite that there was what looked like metal, for some reason it didn't feel like ordinary planet-mined and planet-forged alloy. Neither was there dead plastic or plastic composites as far as he could see.
All this was, of course, merely backdrop to the main event: the main diplomats of Homeworld. Each of the Princesses, along with the diplomats, were standing politely on one side of the bridge, allowing the leader of Harmonia room to stand comfortably. Each bowed as deeply as was appropriate for their rank in relation to the Herdfather as he turned to them.
"Welcome aboard, Herdfather Teal."
*****
Tech sighed, leaning against a wall. "I do not know everything. There are some things even I dare not attempt to comprehend, not yet. But to answer your question... yes. The attack on your ship, and on your mother's ship, are both related, as is your dream of the Phoenix."
He turned and looked seriously at his grandson. "Cosmic, what if I told you that we are not alone in the universe? That there ARE sentient beings not originating from Sol, and that many are not only hostile, but technologically so advanced that it would not be too far off the mark to describe them as 'gods'? For this is the state of things. You should know from your time as a student about the energy-information equivalence theorem. The entire universe, everything that exists, may be described as nothing more than vast, almost infinite amounts of information. And that information, my grandson, cannot be created or destroyed as far as we know... but it CAN be manipulated."

Taking in a breath, Teal found the air to be...surprisingly fresh and clean. Not chilled, filtered, anything. It was pure. He couldn't believe his nose...or his eyes. Is this all for real? This couldn't be the same Homeworld technology that had caused devastation inside Harmonia territory when it crashed.
He turns his gaze to the Princesses with surprise, though not from their presence. The Herdfather shuts his eyes for a moment as he relaxes his racing mind. A small smile forms on his face and he reopens his eyes to the Homeworld leaders. Hello everpony. Thank you for welcoming me aboard.

Cosmic says, "Yes grandpa I remember. I also know that your ability and my minor ability in it function on a similar carrier wave. as does most technical related thing. I feel even my gained magic from the gas exposure is part of it. But as you said neither you nor I understand it all. what must I do grandpa? Everything seams to be happening now for a reason." As cosmic talks with his grandpa the data pad cosmic has pings and incoming message alert. due to the data field it is barely audible. "Grandpa, what is that sound? is it coming from inside here with us?" Cosmic checks his data pad and the Icon for the rebirth symbol program is glowing slightly. Cosmic hands to his grandpa the data pad and says, "I wander why it is acting funny now. isn't this a closed data space?"

This time Buckeye responds back to the call. "Copy that Ranger Station 53. We'll see y'all inside." The communications officer closes the coms. The fleet moves into the docking bays and docks into the station. A slight rumble is felt through the Shining Star, meaning the ship has docked. Buckeye gets up and heads out of the bridge, with a few officers, and towards the docking doors. "Time to meet some old friends. Call in the recruits and have them meet in the hangar." Buckeye sees Flame approaching him. "Flame, good to see you. I need you to go to the hangars and prep them to go. If the recruits have already chosen their ships, get them ready to leave." Flame was about to talk then goes away to do so.
Stone felt the rumble. "It seems as if we have docked with a station. Seems we have made it. We need to get moving now. Rose, Yellow, can you get the prep the ship for departure? We may be leaving soon and it may be good flight experience for you." Rose nods and gets into the Pelican, waiting for Yellow.

Yellow's ears perked up and a bright sparkle came to her eyes as Stone told her to get ready to fly. "All right!" she replied happily, and started toward the TC's opening--and paused. "W-wait... Stone? Stone, I can't fly a pelican! I haven't run the simulators, read a manual, anything! It's easy enough to find the landing gear switch, but this isn't a conventional single-pilot transport. Am I supposed to just 'wing it'?" she asked in disbelief. ...In all reality, her confidence was probably unnecessary... if she was set in that pilot seat and ordered to fly the pelican, she'd likely figure out all the basic controls within the first thirty seconds, picking up more advanced tricks during flight. Nonetheless, Yellow Light didn't look very happy to be getting sent on a flight without a single run in the simulator.

"I said prep the Pelican for departure, not fly it. If you are worried about flying it, then don't. Rose will switch the controls to automatic and allow the AI, that Rose recently installed, fly the Pelican for you, isn't that right Rose?" Rose nods and starts prepping the ship for departure. "Well, you all have fun. I'm going to help direct the other recruits into the Pelicans, even yours." And with that, Stone left. Rose turns on most of the systems but waits for Yellow to get in to show her the flight combat AI she has installed into the Pelican.

Yellow calmed down... and even began to cheer up. She could sit in the pilot seat and watch every control as it was moved by the AI! With that thought in mind, she jumped to it and started helping Rose prep the pelican for imminent takeoff. If there had been any flaws in the repair job, though... "Stone!" she called after him just before he left the hangar. "Make sure they bring parachutes... y'know... just in case," she said awkwardly, tipping her head at the newly refurbished pelican. She let him get back to his job and returned to hers. She scrubbed storage oil out of the newly installed engine nacelles, checked all the rotating segments of the craft, and began refueling it.

Princess Twilight Sparkle nodded crisply, flipping a page in her very obvious notebook and checking some boxes.
"Um, let's see. Ah, yes! Potatoes, celery, cabbage and... wait, no, that's the grocery list. Here we are! Ahem. The diplomats of the Homeworld Council and the Four Princesses of the Homeworld Territories would like to discuss the rekindling of trade and other agreements with the Harmonian Herdfather, Teal. In the intervening years since the Harmonian faction distanced itself from Homeworld, the Homeworld Council reviewed the suggestions and criticisms which were submitted to the Council Ecological Committee, and analyzed the impact of then-current policies regarding pollution, manufacturing, and energy production as well as construction and other policies. It was found that environmental degradation had reached extreme levels which had not been reported on by the Homeworld 500 list of mega-corporations, to such an extent that we were in danger of making Homeworld itself uninhabitable. Thus, new policies were enacted to steeply curb, and then reverse, environmental and ecological devastation caused by equine activities, whether intentional or not. Furthermore, the development of nanotechnology and waste-less fusion completely negated the need for fossil fuel consumption; the development of the Alcubierre-White Spacetime Warp Drive furthermore negated the need for most forms of conventional polluting fuel, relying almost entirely on environmentally friendly fusion-generated electricity. Most importantly, the onset of Peak Metal effectively made any planet-based mining of metals and minerals completely economically unfeasible, forcing corporations to turn entirely to asteroid-based mining or the far less-expensive self-healing nano-robotic organic structures and inexpensive recycling methods. Based on the updated criteria, the Homeworld Council Ecological Committee has deemed Homeworld policies in agreement with the requests originally submitted by the Harmonian faction."
Some of the diplomats were flabbergasted at the absent-minded princess's incredible faux pas with the grocery list, and then completely confused by her long-winded speech about committee something-or-another, so Princess Cadence sighed and stepped forward.
"In short, many policies have changed since you left us, Teal. I hope you can forgive us for not listening to your suggestions and criticisms. We'd like to try to reestablish some sort of trade between our nations, and we've done a lot to make sure that we're friendly to nature now. Can we at least talk about it?"

Tech's eyes widened as the communication device pinged.
"Y-yes, it... is. Nothing should be able to enter. Unless..."
Endless calculations seemed to flash through his head as he eyed the device, stepping forward.

When nothing of interest happened, he breathed a sigh of relief mixed with curiosity.
"It's not of... the 'other side'. Allow me to explain. There exist beings called Data Organisms, mostly joined together in some way into a single multidimensional universal conglomerate known as the Data Overmind, or the Data Integration Thought Entity. It was at one point divided into at least five groups, but now has settled into two main factions: the Non-Intervention faction, which we call the Star Children, and the Intervention Faction. Data Entities are beings of pure Information, pure Data, incorporeal creatures that are effectively everywhere and nowhere at once. However, as individual beings they are not omniscient despite their technical omnipresence, being forced to concentrate on one part of the universe at a time for detailed information. They are technologically advanced far beyond the comprehension of ponies, having long ago discovered all the laws of the universe... and how to manipulate the data of the universe with mere thought and word. As you can probably tell, this would in other circumstances cause complete chaos, but the formation of the Data Overmind brought a status quo, at the price of infinite universal expansion. For several million years, the Data Entities were content to simply observe and absorb the ambient data constantly being outputted by the universe; however, most recently events have lead to the formation of a radical group opposed to such passivity. The Intervention Faction seeks to engineer an Event, similar to the Big Bang in terms of data, which would grant them a near-infinite source of Data at the price of the current physical universe. They plan to bring about this Event through a protocol known as the Dawn of Chaos. However, there is possibly one neutral party. And you, my grandchild, are one of the keys to the survival or destruction of reality as we know it."

Warning shots exploded off the port side of Vive's ship, not close enough to cause damage, but close enough for him to know he was in violation of interstellar protocol.
"Halt immediately. You are in violation to interstellar protocol and have been classified an unknown invasive threat. Stand down or be destroyed. Identify yourself."

Buckeye and a few of his officers strode into the space station. Buckeye signals his officers to have a bit of free time in the space station before he meets with the commanding officer of the station.
The recruits are seen entering into the hangar bays, with their basic training gears. A few of the recruits, who already have chosen their ships, await for their passengers and await the signal to take-off. A small group of recruits board into Yellow's Pelican. Stone and Flame takes the last available seats on the Pelican. Before Stone sat down, he went up to the cockpit and gave Yellow her new training gear, which consists of the standard military training uniform, Military ID, and a a magnum. "You might want to have this if want to officially fly one of these things. And it looks as if you might train in the military boot camps. Rose, get Gregor started on the Pelican." Rose nods and works on the Pelican systems. A hologram pops out of the console. It looks like an old aviation pegasus. "Hello there Miss Rose. I much appreciate it that you brought me back to this Pelican here, but might I ask why?" Rose tilts her head towards Yellow and the pegasus AI notices. "Oh hello there, didn't see ya. My name is Gregor and I'm the designated flight combat AI of the Phoenix Dawn. And if I may ask, what is your name?"

His heart began to race as he felt like a foal who came to shove his parents' mistake in their faces when they had already attended to the issue. "I..." he stammered. He wasn't expecting this to be so terrifying, for childish reasons no less. He wasn't going to break down crying though. "We can talk." He says through a nervous swallow. "But I want to first know why the wreckage of a Homeworld craft was found crashed in Harmonian territory." he says, removing a silk wrap from his side and presenting it to the Princesses and diplomats. Opening it up, he reveals it to be a piece of metal from the crashed Homeworld craft with the Homeworld emblem crested on it. It's badly damaged and somewhat aged. The look on Teal's face was full of worry as he stared at them silently.

Yellow accepted the magnum reluctantly, making sure there was an active safety on the weapon. "Everything's hooves-on training around here, eh?" she giggled as Stone flipped a few switches and connected something. When Gregor popped up from the dashboard's holographic display, Yellow's ears perked up. "Classy outfit there," she complimented when the ai finished introducing itself. "My name is Yellow Light," she replied, "And if you're looking me up in any directories, you'll probably be disappointed, since this is my first day. ...And my first flight! Where do we begin?" she asked in high spirits, buckling into the pilot seat after donning her new uniform.
