A long time ago, the world was home to dragons. Yes, the giant flying fairytale lizards. They roamed the deepest deserts. They dived under the deepest oceans. They scaled the highest mountains. If things could live there, dragons could live there. For the longest time, these majestic creatures were believed to be living gods, destined to rule all there is. That is, until another species showed up: humans. The dragons underestimated them, believing them to be like any other animal. That was a mistake that shaped history. The humans turned out to be incredibly resourceful, using their environment in ways that weren't thought possible. They slowly went on the rise and began to rival the knowledge of dragons.that was what would make them dangerous later on. Humans have feared dragons for as long as anyone could remember. Parents told their children that dragons would eat them if they stayed out late. Just the sight of one caused entire cities to become adbandoned. Eventually, the humans decided to "strike back" against the dragons, which isn't an accurate explanation, as dragons rarely attacked them. They used swords to cut through the dragons' thick scales and rained hell upon them with bows and arrows. The dragons would strike back, and the humans would erect walls around their cities to stop them. The dragons couldn't even use magic, as the humans learned to use it thrmselves. Eventually, the dragons decided that they had almost no chance of winning, and as a last resort, gathered a bunch of eggs, his them away, and enchanted them to not hatch until several years after the last humans died off. It is around eight thousand years later, and the eggs are hatching. The dragons will return.
