Bane comes up from behind his teacher's desk. "This is the Ancient Magic class, and I don't know if it is the next class. But seeing you students here, I'm guessing it is." He looks at the clock on the wall for the time. "Not yet time for class yet and you are all here. Are you that eager to learn or just here waste time before class actually begins?"

"I just came here to see if these other ponies knew where to go because I'm new and don't have much of a clue what to do," North Wind explained, and then added "But, seeing as I'm already here and I have a lot to learn, I really wouldn't mind a head start."

Asterian turned to face Bane with a benevolent smile. "Actually, I have been eager to start class... I... Well, recently I was reading about Starswirl the Bearded. I have to say, I across some ancient magical text that I found intriguing and I thought I would like to learn more." Starfall kept his wits about him, not just to save face, but now to impress a friend.

Bane raises an eyebrow at Asterian. "That all depends on how old the text is. Knowing Starswirl, its probably little older than him but not as old as me. If the text has some strange language that you have no clue what it says, bring it to me and I'll see if I can tell you how ancient it is. But I will tell you this, the magic I do belongs the Second, or Ancient. And the magic happens to be the language of the First and their gods, or Makers, the First of gods. You will learn more once everypony is here and class has officially started."

"Blue is just fine." She managed to say before the teacher showed up. "Was he there the whole time, or is there some sort of secret passage?" She remained quiet and smiling while Asterian and Bane talked. Then she turned to the new pony for a moment. "If you're new here you must go to the secretary, i can take you there after class if you wish. We'd probably not make it back before class starts and i really don't want to pass this one." She explained and returned her attention to the teacher. "Well, i really want to learn about those creator gods and their magic." she said with an determined look.

Earl just sat, intrigued. He had often thought that he should have been born a unicorn, because of his love of magical theory and the sciences. He decided, that since he had his syllabus completed, he'd sit in on this class.

Asterian turned towards Blue and whispered to her, "Hmm... I think I actually still have that text with me..." Asterian began rummaging through his saddlebag, looking for the piece of parchment that he was referring about. "No... No... Ah, there it is." He magically lifted it from his bag and unfurled it, looking over the length of it carefully. "Seems to me like it's some form of ancient Equestrian. I can not quite decipher it... I do not believe any text from this era ever has been deciphered." Starfall pulled out another scroll, this one in plain text, and unrolled it as well. "I've prepared a decryption key from what I can gather from the scroll, but I am still missing about half the letters."

"Interesting..." Blue whispered back, looking over the two scrolls. "Maybe you should show that to mister Bane, he might help you with the translation." she suggested with a smile.

Asterian continued to whisper to Blue. "Well, that's the thing, Blue. Not a single scroll has ever been deciphered from this era... No offense towards Professor Bane, but I am a writer by profession, and if I can not decrypt this and if he says the scroll is beyond his years, then I doubt he could assist." Asterian looked back at the copy of the text he had made. It read:
Eo quod dixeris, magisque audire. Vides, quanto minus tibi timebis.
"I am certain I can decipher it soon enough. I already have this much: 'The more you say, the more I hear. You see, how...' and I just need to decode a few more characters then I have it. Odd... This sounds to me like some form of ancient shadow magic." Asterian continued to pour over the scrolls, longing to be the first to understand this ancient text. The more you say, the more I hear. You see, how... How much less? Wait!
Asterian whispered to himself, speaking only loud enough so he could understand. "Eo quod dixeris, magisque audire. Vies, quanto minus tibi timebis. The more you say, the more I hear. You see, how much less to thee, and thou shalt fear." The unicorn raised his voice a little so that Blue might hear him. "I just figured it out! Months of obsessing over this, and I have cracked the code!"

Blue raised her ears to hear better. "Oh, that sounds more like a warning than a spell..." She whispered back, she rubbed her chin and looked to the ceiling. "The more you say, the more i hear... Hmm... Maybe we shouldn't repeat that, nor say the language out loud. At least until you have it fully translated. Anyway, i would be really happy to help you in any way." She smiled heartily.

"Again, I am perplexed. If this was just an ancient text, then why would it be archived with spell scrolls? I know these pages haven't ever been decoded before, but this is some form of ancient Equestrian that was meant to be hard to break. A warning would be unlikely; even so, who would be able to understand this language? I think it has to be a secret of sorts..." Asterian continued thinking about the meanings to the text. A warning was very unlikely; why would somepony nearly invent a new language to warn even just one other pony? "I'm not sure. Maybe if I can find the scroll again, something will come up. I only copied a fragment of it."

"Well, it kinda reminds me of an old ponytale my grandfather use to tell me when i was little. Hmm, how was it..." Blue closed her eyes and tried to remember a story she heard a few times when she was very young, buried deep in her memory. "Something about shadows, and an armor with nopony inside, hunting those who travel at night. And some light of the heart that can keep them away... ah, the rest is pretty blurry, its been too long."
//Does my Latin suck that much, or does it translate to "Because you have said to thee, and more I seem to hear how much less you will fear." kinda doesn't make sense :c

Bane's ears perk up. "Did you just say ancient Equestria? That is after the time of the Ancients and I believe a friend of mine knows something about it. And besides I'm only here to teach you the history behind the Ancients, The First, and the Makers, and to teach you the magic of the Ancients. Oh and if any of you try to sleep on me, you will regret it."

Asterian could not resist letting a chuckle escape him. "I doubt that will happen, sir. I was just talking to Blue about this fragment of a scroll I just deciphered." Asterian held up the copy of the text. "Translated, it roughly reads: 'The more you say, the more I hear. You see, how much less to thee, and thou shalt fear.' This is just a small part of the scroll that I took to conjure up a decryption key. I still do not quite understand what this is supposed to mean. Based on what I remember from the original scroll, I think it's some sort of spell that involves listening to conversations–espionage, for lack of a better term."

Blue giggled as well. "Don't worry, mister Bane. There is no way i would sleep in class. Way to embarrassing." She said with a little blush. She prepared her quill, holding it up in a levitation spell sat back a bit. The more you say, the more i hear. For some reason those words didn't want to leave her mind, she kept repeating it over and over in her mind. With a strange feeling of lightness in her head she rubbed her eyes with her hooves.
