there should be a trigger moment, Asterian. you remember from the show, the solid rock didn't transform into an Element until Twilight started her realization speech. Also, all the necklaces are missing the Element proper, just like the tiara. Currently, the physical Elements are shoved up each respective former Bearer's chest, keeping them in a sort of stasis, not letting them age or get permanently hurt. The "new" Elements will be appearing as symbols on your body rather than as trinkets, symbolizing that the "true" Elements come from within, from inside of each of us, and aren't bound to some colorful gemstone.

Yup the seeds are just a marker to show which ones have already started to awaken. Right now Laughter and loyalty are glowing which means the elements themselves have already awakened within their respective bearers. Kindness and Generosity are sparking which means they are close, but not yet, to awakening. The final elements which are Honesty and magic have yet to even spark. This means they have not even begun to awaken yet.
